Privacy policy
Last updated: 2026-10-08
This policy explains what Chat Likes (the browser extension and this website) does with your data. We try to collect as little as possible.
1. Who is responsible
Nathan Raffy (Micro-entrepreneur (entreprise individuelle)), SIRET 920 668 118 00028, 21 rue de l'Autan, 31320 Péchabou, France. Contact: chatlike.co@gmail.com.
2. What we keep, why, and for how long
When you like a message (no account needed)
- A random install id that the extension creates in your browser. The server never stores it: it keeps only a keyed hash of it, next to your likes. This is how a person can like a message once, and take the like back. Kept as long as the liked message is kept.
- The liked messages: the message id, the channel, the author's name and the text. They come from the public chat (from Twitch's public chat for Twitch, from the extension for YouTube). Deleted automatically after 14 days.
- Your IP address, to limit abuse (how many likes, connections and identities one address can make). The counters live in memory for at most about a day. Our web server may also log connections (including IP addresses) for up to 14 days for security.
If you sign in (optional, needed to unlock or wear paid themes)
- Twitch: your Twitch user id, login name and display name. We ask Twitch for no permission over your account and do not receive your email.
- Google: your Google account identifier and display name ("openid profile"). No access to your YouTube channel, no email.
- We do not keep the tokens Twitch or Google give us: they are used once, to learn who you are, then dropped.
- The extension keeps a session token in your browser; the server stores only a hash of it. Sessions last 90 days or until you sign out.
- Which sign-ins you linked together, and the themes you unlocked. Kept until you delete your account.
- If you are a streamer: the theme and rules you chose for your channel.
If you buy a theme
- The payment is handled by our payment provider, which is the seller of record: it collects your payment details, billing address and taxes under its own privacy policy. We never see your card number.
- We receive and keep, linked to your account: the order reference, what was bought, the amount and currency, and whether it was refunded. We keep it as long as the law requires us to keep accounting records (10 years).
In your browser
Your settings (look, toggles, chosen animations) are stored on your own device by the extension. They are not sent to us.
3. What we do not do
- No advertising, no analytics, no tracking, no cookies on this website.
- We do not sell or rent data, and we do not use it to profile you.
4. Who else sees data
- Hosting: OVH SAS, 2 rue Kellermann, 59100 Roubaix, France.
- Twitch and Google, when you choose to sign in with them (their privacy policies apply to their part).
- Our payment provider, when you buy.
- Authorities, if the law requires it.
Some of these providers may process data outside the European Union; they rely on safeguards such as the standard contractual clauses.
5. Legal bases
Operating the like service and preventing abuse: our legitimate interest. Accounts, sign-in and purchases: performing the contract with you. Keeping accounting records: legal obligation.
6. Your rights
You can ask us for a copy of your data, to correct it, to erase it, to restrict or object to its processing, or to receive it in a portable format. Write to chatlike.co@gmail.com; we answer within one month. Erasing your account removes your sign-ins, sessions and unlocked themes (including your channel's); order records are kept for accounting. You can also complain to the CNIL (cnil.fr).
7. Children
Chat Likes is not meant for children under 13, the minimum age of Twitch and YouTube. If you are under 15, ask a parent before creating an account or buying anything.
8. Security
Connections use HTTPS. Identifiers are hashed, provider tokens are not kept, and access to the server is restricted.
9. Changes
If this policy changes in a way that matters, we will say so here and, when you are signed in, in the extension.
